Wang Zhongguo is the patriarch of the Wang Family and Chen Fan's grandfather on his mother's side.
When Chen Fan was on Planet Tianhuang, Wang Zhongguo and his Wang Family was pressured by some Alien Races and Foreign Cultivators due to his relations with Chen Fan, causing him to get High-Blood Pressure due to the stress and later dies due to it, bringing his family down with him.

He has a very pragmatic and calculating personality, rarely letting emotion govern his decisions unlike the majority of his family. He raised himself from nothing with only just his shrewd mind and cold-hearted tactics, which eventually allowed him to create the Wang Family of Yanjing. Even his daughter Wang Xiaoyun notes that he has a heart of stone.

Previous Timeline[]
In Chen Fan's previous life, the Wang Family never invited him to visit, therefore Wang Zhongguo never interacted with him. Even with the death of Chen Fan's mother Wang Xiaoyun, who was his own daughter, he did not make any attempts. He only sends his proud grandson, Wang Cheng to visit his own daughter's funeral.
Chen Fan stated that when Wang Zhongguo passed away in his previous life, the Wang Family fell apart as none of them were capable enough to succeed him.
Current Timeline[]
Through his connections with China's Special Cases Department, he was made aware of the grand achievements Chen Fan had made throughout China and the rest of the world. While most of them did not faze him, his curiosity was piqued when he learned that Chen Fan had even forced the United States of America to back down in an engagement. Seeing Chen Fan as an opportunity to advance the Wang Family, he decided to invite his family over to visit, much to the dismay of the rest of the Wang Family.
Despite familial ties, Wang Zhongguo did not invite Chen Fan over for any purpose other than to use his power to further the Wang Family. He entrusted this to the 1st in line successor Wang Cheng, stating that he was to find a way to rope Chen Fan into their matters, either genuinely or through deception. He stated that if Chen Fan were to be recruited genuinely, his name would be added to the family tree and could potentially be the family's future successor when he passes away due to his capabilities, but if not then using Chen Fan as a one-time tool was fine as well. In his heart, he desired for Chen Fan to aid them out of the goodness of his heart as it would be more sincere and long-lasting, as well as stating that none of the current members of the Wang Family would be able to maintain the family's current status should he pass away.
However, due to Wang Cheng's jealousy, Chen Fan ended up being set up against the other big families of Yan Jin, which caused him to harbor enmity towards the Wang Family. This forced Wang Zhongguo to go along with the plan and set up Chen Fan against the Xiao Family, and by extension the Ye Family by interfering with a marriage between the Xiao Family and Qin Family. This conflict escalated to the point Chen Fan would fight against the strongest cultivator in China, Ye Qingcang. Initially, Wang Zhongguo was pleased with the situation as if Chen Fan won, the status of the Wang Family would increase tremendously, but if he lost, he could simply discard Chen Fan as he was not a full member of the family. When Chen Fan won, Wang Zhongguo congratulated him and offered to add him to the family registry in addition to hosting many elaborate celebrations in recognition of his victory. However, Chen Fan made it clear that he knew all along that the Wang Family had schemed against him and killed Wang Cheng for masterminding the situation. This was done in full view of all the large families in Yan Jin which revealed to them that there was no relation between Chen Fan and the Wangs, and that they actually plotted against him instead, completely destroying their status.
Later, when Chen Fan fought against the United States of America for arresting Fang Qiong and pressuring the North Qiong Sect, he was the only member of the Wang Family to predict that he would actually defeat them. Afterwards, he laments how he had missed the opportunity to have such a powerful grandson by his side.
When the alien races take over Earth, the Wang Family is one of the first to capitulate to them. However, this seems to have been orchestrated by the other members of the Wang Family including Wang Keqin as when Chen Fan came to visit after slaughtering the alien races, Wang Zhongguo was spared from the family massacre. Afterwards, Wang Zhongguo took the family away from public eye and secluded himself.
Later when the forces of the Abandoned Star Region, Cultivators from the Star Ocean, The Alien Races, and the cultivators of the Seven Imperishable Sects invade Earth for the Grand Opportunity, the Wang Family was targeted due to Wang Zhongguo's relation to Chen Fan. They caused so much turmoil for him and the family that he eventually passed away due to the stress.[1]

- Ironically, he is one of the only members of the Wang Family aside from Wang Chenchen who wanted to genuinely reconnect with Chen Fan, even if the main reason was to rely on his power. He was also the only one in the family who showed regret after realizing that Chen Fan was much more powerful than they originally thought and could have brought the family to greater heights. Whereas the rest of the family scorned him and were consumed by envy and arrogance.
