Chen Kexing is the father of the protagonist, Chen Fan.
Personality[]
Is known to be very stubborn, which is shown by his dedication to his career. Even after his siblings surpass him career-wise, he refuses to move back to Jin City even when his father asks him to. He is still at his desk even when he could choose to cultivate and when his son is renowned throughout the world.
He doesn't show much emotion aside from the occasional nod, mostly having a stern gaze.
History[]
He is also called 'Reeve Chen'. He was deputy magistrate of Sishui County and held similar rank as Jiang Haishan.[1]
Jiang Haishan compliments Reeve Chen, saying his plan 'Sustainable Development of County Economy and the Selection and Application of Environmental Protection Policies' was praised by the mayor. The mayor says Chen Yuxing has international perspective and agreed with Chen's principle that future economic development is inseparable from environmental protection.[1]
In college he met and fell in love with Chen Fan's mother Wang Xiaoyun.[2]
Originally the pride of the Chen family since he was the most talented and had the most promising future when compared to his siblings. This is especially the case when they found out he was dating Wang Xiaoyun since she was from one of the most powerful families in China. However, when the Wang family opposed the marriage and cut off ties with Wang Xiaoyun, he and Wang Xiaoyun ran away to Sishui County where he took a government job.
In order to prove the Wang family wrong, he decided to work his way up the social ladder by himself, but 20 years later he is only a deputy magistrate of a county. When comparing careers, he is now inferior to his two brothers. This combined with the lack of interaction from the rest of the Chen family due to distance, Chen Yuxing's family is ostracized from the rest of the Chen family.
After numerous tycoons and magnates visit Chen Fan during the Chen family's Chinese New Year banquet, his standing in the family rises significantly.
Given the True Martial Qi Refinement technique by Chen Fan, and starts cultivating.
When Damon was running away from Chen Fan, he cursed Chen Yuxing with the Kindred race's Blood Origin Curse in an attempt to negotiate for his life with Chen Fan. This enrages Chen Fan so much that he uses the Seven Kill Curse of the Ten Thousand Dharma Sect. After Chen Fan dispels the Blood Origin Curse using the Yi Wood Spirit Spell, he chases Damon all the way to Europe and kills him.
Although he isn't talented in cultivation (partially due to his strong connection to the mortal world and mortal ambitions) he is still taken by Immortal Cangqin to the True Martial Celestial Sect because he practices a core art of the sect.
Relationships[]
Is Chen Huaian's favorite son even when he ran away to Sishui County. His father wants him to move back to Jin City because he believes he is wasting his talent.
Although he doesn't see his wife very much (only once every 6 months) he loves her very deeply. This is proven when in Chen Fan's past life after Wang Xiaoyun's death, Chen Yuxing snapped and gave up on his career, almost causing the family to fall apart.
Supports all of Chen Fan's decisions, including when he went against the United States.
